KATABASIS
A comic returning to that minimalist style, this time using only 2 colors. It’s a return to the loose story built upon in “Terminal”. Following a detective sent to a tech company building taken over by a mad scientist and his AI snatching bodies to bring back to raise from the dead. It was made as a worldbuilding project for my Character Development & Storytelling class. It’s something I’ve been looking deeper into explore, writing a screenplay and storyboarding some scenes for a full animation.
Never Leave These Eyes
Documentation of the animation & video installation piece done in collaboration with Marcos Vazquez. Presented at "Peeling The Glass Onion" 2024, at Laundromat Art Space in Miami. Was viewable for the length of the show (1 week).
Made using an old 1985 Model 4 RadioShack-Tandy TRS 80 and an HP all-in-one. The installation involved two computers which played one of two animations done by Vazquez and I respectively. They ran on a program made by Vazquez to swap animations at a determined time during the showings. This would have the Tandy swap to a 'dead' blue screen and the HP to swap to an alternate animation as a form of grief over the death of the Tandy.
The animation presented on the Tandy is made by Vazquez and is a narrative about an engineer trying to repair a space ship but nothing he does can prevent it's inevitable decline. The animation playing on the HP is mine, titled “Not Alone In The End". It recalls a past experience that leads to questions of life & death, fear, and anxiety.
