Insomnia
A short animation made as a test for an experimental animation style inspired by the minimalist movie posters of Saul Bass. It was made to represent my insomnia which I suffered with at the time, leading to paranoia and days of sleeplessness. Ironically, this was made in a single day while pulling an all-nighter.
Not Alone in the End - Alt.
An animation with an alternate version created for the video instillation piece “Never Leave These Eyes”. It delves into a personal story of fearing death, anxiety, and grief. The animation is secondary to the performance of the instillation and was programmed to swap to the alternate version after the death of a computer playing a second animation by Marcos Vazquez. The second version has small changes to represent the grief faced by those left living.
Insomnia Redux
An animation made in collaboration with sound technician Jose Marquez. Marquez provided sound and music which I animated to. Built upon my initial animation of the same name, taking an alternate route in the story, creating a timeline in which the protagonist of Insomnia survives their nightmare encounter.
Walk & Run Cycles
Walk cycle practice with a rigged walker model. A basic run and walk and an exaggerated version of both.
Wilkins Coffee Reanimted
I hosted a multi-animator project on Instagram with a few animators to re-animate the Wilkins Coffee commercials. Each animator chose a commercial from a list and had a month to animate them.'
I chose to experiment in style again and created low poly models of the characters Wilkins & Wontkins along with some props. The inspiration comes strongly from old PlayStation games including the pixelated textures and the objects distorting at the seams.
Jam Is Number One
A comedic re-animation of a moment taken from a gaming session with friends. I made all the 3D models, their textures, along with their 2D face and body rigs.
This is one part in a much larger project to reanimate a backlog of clips from over the years and practice the medium of 3D animation.
Cozy Retro
An early experiment in creating 3D pixel art assets and blending 2D and 3D animation using Blender’s NLA editor and Grease Pencil.
Nemotia
Collaborative animation by Jacob Guerrero, Marcos Vazquez and myself. Done in 3 different art styles that transition between each other. It was created to tackle themes of corruption in the world of fine arts, greed, ambition, and how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It premiered in a small theatre at FIU as part of the exhibition "Within Spaces, Without Time" alongside a satirical installation titled "Common" which was a plinth with a penny stuck to some gum on it. This was to tie the animation in the theater and main exhibition room together. On the day of de-installation the penny stuck to gum was no where to be found, presumed stolen.
Follow Your Heart
Student work for my creative practice, experimenting as much as I could with animation and different software both audio and visual. This follows a loose narrative about being stuck in reality but daydreaming a better one. Made mostly in Blender with some visuals done in photoshop.
